Current Outright & Endowment Gifts

Cash
Gifts of cash through a check, money order, ACH authorization or cashier’s check can be given to the Arkansas Baptist Foundation on behalf of the charity that you wish to benefit if the gift is to be used within an endowment.  Otherwise, outright cash gifts can be given directly to your desired charity.  The following is the process for giving cash for endowment purposes.

Please call the Foundation (501) 376-4791 in Little Rock or (800) 838-2272 outside of Little Rock] so that we can draft an account agreement for you to review and execute.

  • After the agreement is signed, please send the check, money order or cashier’s check as a contribution to your endowment.  (If you would like to make a gift through a ACH authorization, please fax us the completed ACH Withdrawal Form along with a voided check.)
  • You will receive a charitable receipt from the Arkansas Baptist Foundation as funds are received.

Publicly-Traded Stock
For all publicly traded stock that is not restricted (in those cases, please call the Foundation for more details), donors will hold the stock in one of three ways:

Mutual Funds, Real-Estate, Etc.
Please call the Arkansas Baptist Foundation (800) 838-2272 concerning the asset-type that you potentially desire to give to a charity.

Endowments
Endowment Funds allow donors to perpetually benefit one or more Christian
ministries. A minimum of $1000 is needed to open an account. Normally, the earnings will be reinvested until the account reaches the fund balance of $10,000. An Endowment typically states that the net income is paid out to the charities chosen by the donor(s) in  the original Endowment Fund agreement. This income distribution normally begins with a minimum fund balance of $10,000. To discuss Endowments further, please call the Arkansas Baptist Foundation at (800) 838-2272 outside of Little Rock or (501) 376-0732 in  the Little Rock Area. Bequests

Outright
The Foundation helps donors by:

  • Providing free legal drafts of wills/trusts to help Arkansas Baptists leave gifts to Baptist charities. These drafts may be used by the donor’s attorney.
  • Assessing their estate planning situation and helping them meet their own needs (example: reduction of taxes, increasing income) through potentially the best charitable giving strategy.
  • Setting up endowment-type gifts.  Endowments are accounts that payoff the income produced during the year to the donor’s selected charity.  An endowment allows a donor’s influence to live forever!

Charitable Lead Trusts
A current income tax deduction may be obtained by creating a qualified living lead trust for a term of years. Property is transferred to the trust and a selected income amount is paid to charity for the chosen number of years. After all income payments have been made, trust principal plus any accumulation is returned to the original owner. For more information, click here.

Donor Advised Fund
For our donors who wish to benefit Christian causes and still have some input as to potential changes, a Donor-Advised Fund is a wonderful vehicle. A minimum of $1000 is needed to open an account. A DAF typically states that at the end of every year the income is paid out to the original (or default) charities chosen by the donor(s). However, the donors reserve the right to advise the Foundation if they wish to change the beneficiaries or the percentages. The Foundation can then approve these suggestions provided that they fulfill the intent of the DAF. The Foundation has only two choices – to pay out the distributions to the “default” charities originally chosen or to the charities as suggested by the donors.

Additionally, donors can pass on that same right of advisement to their children or to other individuals in the future. Some of us use a DAF to try to keep our children focused on Christian ministries by providing a vehicle for them to give dollars away to the ministries of their choice. To discuss DAF’s further, please call the Arkansas Baptist Foundation at (800) 838-2272 outside of Little Rock or (501) 376-4791 in the Little Rock Area.
